Between the tapas and Rioja, we managed to cram in lots on our recent trip to Madrid.
It’s one of my favourite European cities and here are some of our highlights (and outfits!)…
The Museo del Prado
Enjoy the likes of Goya and Velázquez at this impressive art museum. We were lucky enough to see a temporary Picasso exhibition while on our visit too!
Café Murillo, tucked away behind the Prado, is a great place for a breakfast or lunch before or after your visit.
Mercado de San Miguel
Spend hours at this bustling market strolling from one food stall to another, trying Spanish specialities, local wines and beers along the way.
The Hotel Urban is a super cool, design-led hotel near the main tourist hub. One of the highlights is its rooftop bar and pool – a perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing.
The Ritz Garden
Tea at The Ritz may be quintessentially British, but in Madrid, it’s G&T at The Ritz. Head to the hotel’s garden for gin o’clock.
Parque de El Retiro
The stunning Retiro Park is the perfect place for a stroll or boat ride around its scenic lake. Just a short walk away from the park is the upmarket district of Salamanca, which is packed with chic Madrileños, designer stores and high-end restaurants.
Head to El Corral De La Moreria for award-winning flamenco. Grab a pre-drink in the restaurant next door, which has beautiful views over the Plaza de Gabriel Miró.
