New England Adventure – Cape Cod

The British flag was flying when we arrived at the charming, Colonial Inn at Cape Cod and we knew we were going to feel right at home.

Innkeepers Mike and Helen, from old England, were the perfect hosts. They even served up a four-course breakfast each morning, which was all freshly made and incredible. We loved our relaxing stay here.

Feeling like a southern belle!

There aren’t a great deal of places to eat around Yarmouth Port, but luckily for us, The Old Yarmouth Inn was right on our doorstep. Dating back to 1696, it is believed to be the oldest inn on Cape Cod and served as the halfway haven to travellers on their way to Provincetown. In the present day, it serves delicious food, beautiful wines and local ales – all of which we enjoyed.

While on the island, we went on a whale watching trip, and it was even better than I expected! The Cape is surrounded by the most amazing coast, and after only two days on the island, we simply have to return to explore it more!

After a day at sea, we kicked back with a bottle of wine on our porch and enjoyed the balmy evening.

The next day, it was July 4th, and we headed to Hyannis to catch a ferry. Before departing, we enjoyed a few local beers at The Black Cat Tavern on the harbour – well, we were celebrating America’s independence after all!

It would be rude not to try the local ales

That’s it for now, next post I’ll be in Nantucket for Independence Day!
